INTERVIEW TRANSCRIPT (auto-generated):

Hi, you are listening to My Body My Story podcast,

Go for it. Everything is there. Just don't be shy. Don't be, you know, concerned too much with others expectations. As long as you it's positive and productive just

This is the 45 or 45 chapter where we celebrate rule breakers and role models, the women who inspire us to live life our way and to show that sensuality, beauty, soul and true essence. Here we talk about what it's like to be 45 Plus, adjusting to the changes that come with time, and will listen to the stories of our participants. If you have an interesting story to share, we would love you to participate, you can email us on info@aleksandrawalker.com or visit our website, www. aleksandrawalker.com

I'm an enthusiastic Zumba instructor. Well, yeah, and I taught for eight years over the mountains. And yeah, really creative. really expressive time. That's fun to see how I could stretch the Latino music and danced it, ended up being nice. It was, you know, I brought in other elements like bamboo to dance with. And then and, and they gave you a really good workout.

So do you miss it?

I do. I do. But I'm, I've gotten on to tennis. Yeah. Yeah, yeah, I took my time in isolation. Yeah, I took a while I picked up tennis, and was playing four days a week and just loving it.

That's awesome.

I think well, because from a child, we were always encouraged to do sports, you know? Yeah, I was one of those 1000s of seven year olds sending the tennis racquet adolescence.

So everyone knows that with age we change but what positive changes have you experienced with age?

Confidence, confidence with a capital C, you know, all the things that seemed mountainous, to overcome, this all falls into place and you just think, either I can do it, or I don't want to do it. There's no you know, so yeah, yeah. Confidence and, and I think knowing what you want, you know,

it's an empowering thing

Really empowering, really empowering self. It's, and, and you draw on that depths, you know, that inner strength of yours, because when you're younger, you've got your looks and your attitude, and you're still climbing and you're still, you know, doing all that. But that's not to say that being 55 is Oh, because I don't feel exactly but yeah, yeah, it's just a different lifestyle. And it's all part of life. And really, we should all be grateful that we can reach a healthy ageing, that's right,

so many die young

and also, it gives you an opportunity to focus on you. That's right, you know, because you've done what's expected. You've done all the other things and I can sort of sit back and go well,

and enjoy

most definitely

You should be on TV. So what is the biggest challenge that you experience all around this age?

For me, I would say fitness. It's not as easy to achieve your fitness goals for me anyway you know. And just trying to lead a healthy lifestyle, it's, that's where I'm at. I'm healthy otherwise, you know, and

and having been at fitness your whole life, it changes, body changes, and

it definitely does. It definitely does. And it's the time to accept some things, you know, I used to be able to entertain hundreds and, you know, to all to all that stuff. And I loved it. But now I'm a bit more. I don't know

Tell us about your greatest accomplishment

That is such a hard question. Because it's so you know, there's accomplishments all through your life at different stages and different times you're motivated by different things, your experiences, you know, guide you on how, where you're going and what you're going to have happen to, you know, be joyful. Otherwise, the biggest challenge to my greatest challenge have a theme.

Maybe it is the biggest challenge around this time?

So one thing I have noticed is, you can, sometimes I can be in a room doing things, and it's almost like, I'm invisible in the business world, you know, and where once I would have commanded the room, now, I'm fighting for a voice, whether that's psychological or whether, you know, but that's how it seems. And I don't know whether it's just a physical thing that's not giving me so much strength in my voice anymore, or whether it's just in my head.

Could be that times have changed. Yeah. Everyone is so rushed in. Sort of self-important that it's okay, In the end, everyone tries to gets noticed, really...

What advice would you give your 30 year old self?

Just go for it. Go for it. Everything is there? Yeah. Just don't be shy. Don't be, you know, concerned too much with others expectations. As long as you it's positive and productive. Just go for it, whatever it is,

What advice would you give other women who eventually undergo these changes?

Advice? I would tell them don't be so obsessed with your looks. And just be true to yourself. You know, we've got so many opportunities now where that haven't been available before. But he they are and if you if you're a sensible, driven person, you know, if anyone can achieve greatness, because greatness comes on many, many levels, since in many ways feels. So I would say to them, focus on the whole package of life, rather than just your face or your body because nature takes its course. Right, you know? Yeah, yeah. And where ageing is, is beautiful. It's still something that has to be dealt with, you know, you still have to show it the respect because I think it's just really sad. Otherwise, you know what I mean? You'd be quite depressed.
